The weaver ant resides in the canopy layer of african rainforests. Weaver ants are well-known for the ingenious method in which they build their swarms out of leaves.

First, number of worker ants combine their toughness to pull the pipeline together. Larvae space then fetched from the nest, and the silk that they emit is used by the workers to stitch with each other the leaves. (It is this habits that gives the weaver ant the name.)

The weaver ant is a voracious predator, feeding on other invertebrates both in the canopy and also on the woodland floor. Its visibility is often encouraged by farmers, as the types will strike the chop eating coconut bug.
