I gained the bolt out v no problem and also with a wheel puller I obtained the bottom half off of the clutch. I deserve to not obtain the upper fifty percent off v the sheave puller. I"ve do the efforts hitting it through a hammer to ease it cranking on the pulley-block puller. I thought around heating it with a torch but I carry out not want to destroy the clutch plus i don"t have actually a torch. - Pete

You shouldn"t have to remove the PTO clutch to readjust the belt. Leastways I readjusted mine without doing it.Make sure you appropriately torque the bolt the goes v the PTO assembly right into the crankshaft when you reassemble it. Lock are recognized to back out, and also can gall the threads and damage the PTO if it functions its way loosened while the engine is running.

So how do you adjust the belt there is no removing the clutch?I have a GT235 and also the belt is damaged and also needs to be replaced. I"ve removed the bolt to the clutch but it won"t budge. I"ve sprayed it with PB Blaster a couple of times and also beat on it because that a pair days and it"s not moving. Also, wherein does the spring tensioner connect for the drive belt? Mine dropped off and also luckily remained on the deck. I can see whereby it attached to the 2 pulleys that move however where ~ above the mower does that attach? Thanks!Mark

You most definitely do not have to remove the PTO to readjust the belt. It would certainly make it slightly easier, however with the difficulties your having acquiring it turn off it would certainly be much much easier to just slide that over.As for the tensioner spring, it attaches to one of the feet in the frame. Look because that the feet that has actually some paint worn away on the next pointing to the tensioner - that"s whereby the feather goes. If i can acquire out there tonight, I"ll take a pic and show you.

Thanks, looking in ~ it ns didn"t think of trying to on slide the belt turn off without taking the clutch out...I"ll shot tonight. Ns guess it just seems there"s too much stuff there but I"ll give it a try.I"ll grab part lock tite also so ns don"t loose the bolt. Ns think I could run it without the bolt (don"t problem I won"t :bonk: )
According come the technological manual, not important to eliminate the PTO, just the PTO cable. Moving the tensioner - component #20 is what you must do. Permit me know if girlfriend need further help.

I have a couple questions around that clutch. In every due respect, i don"t see how the belt will ever loosen up sufficient to slip over the clutch. It appears the clutch does have to come off. Mine tractor has the Kawasaki engine if the makes any kind of differance. If i take the #20 part (bolt) out and also use a 8" puller to gain the cluch off, how tough will it it is in to placed the clutch earlier on? go the #20 bolt rotate counterclockwise come loosen and should it be locktighted earlier on?Thanks for every the help. You guys are great!
Re: exactly how Do I eliminate GT235 journey Belt
Here"s just how to take turn off the main drive belt that connects the electrical clutch ~ above the front of the tractor to the pully under the fan at the ago of the tractor. To remove it, using a visegrip, eliminate the stress and anxiety spring to release the pressure on the belt. Referring to the Belt Drive and also Idlers schematic at http://jdpc.deere.com, loosen the 2 pulleys (#24) and the #18 Idler the the belt winds through. Remove the #24 pully closest to the former of the tractor so the #23 (Angle) is the end of the way. The others you don"t have to take turn off as long as girlfriend can obtain the belt turn off them.Unplug the electrical connection to the clutch. Take off the steering eight at the front of the tractor being mindful not to change the adjustment of it. In ~ the ago of the tractor, pull the hydraulic reservoir out of the molding the holds it in place so girlfriend gain accessibility to the cooling pan sitting on peak of the belt. Don"t disconnect it. This is very tight but if you reach in behind the reservoir, girlfriend can very closely get the loosened belt turn off the pulley and move it increase to simply under the fan. A piece of rope looped through the belt helps to traction the belt back. Be cautious not to damage the pan blades. The belt is now between the pully and the fan. V the belt off the pully, there will be enough slack to then eliminate the belt native the former pully (#1) and also slip it under over the clutch. Once off the clutch, position the steering pole to take it the belt off that. A camera may assist you remember just how everthing goes. Next end up working the belt up and over the cooling pan in the back and traction it out. Download the new belt in turning back order. To gain more room come work around that cooling fan, it helps to ease the 4 bolts hold the fenderdeck on. I didn"t remove it, just prop the up through a wedge on optimal of the tire and also it will certainly let you work in the earlier a tiny easier.Good luck. The wasn"t that hard once friend knew how to do it.
