Yesterday morning ns woke up with un tarlo musicale (literally: a music woodworm, a repetitive item of music the sticks in her mind) in mine head. It was the beginning of an Italian song dubbed Il cielo in una stanza, composed by singer and also songwriter Gino Paoli in 1960. This old song, wonderfully construed by ‘la voce’ (the voice) of Italian music, Mina, is still thought about to be among the many romantic Italian song of all time. Ebbene sì, succede anche a me di essere romantica, qualche volta! (Yes, even I gain romantic, occasionally!) ns wonder if this has actually anything to carry out with the truth that yesterday to be San Valentino, la festa degli innamorati (Literally: the lovers’ festival, Saint Valentine’s day).

Here space the lyrics, adhered to by my translation into English:

Il cielo in una stanza

Quando sei qui con me questa stanza no ha più pareti ma alberi, alberi infiniti.

Quando sei qui vicino a me questo soffitto viola no, no esiste più…

Per te… e per me nel cielo.

The skies in a room

When girlfriend are below with me This room has no walls anymore yet trees, infinite trees.

When you are below near me this violet ceiling doesn’t exist anymore…

I check out the sky over us who continue to be here, abandoned as if, if there to be nothing else, nothing else in the world.

A harmonica is playing: it appears to me favor an body organ that vibrates for you and for me up in the immensity of the sky

A harmonica is playing: it seems to me choose an organ that vibrates because that you and for me up in the immensity the the sky

For you… and also for me in the sky
