I"d to speak "Próspero Año Nuevo" is an ext formal and not really usage in speech. You"ll discover it in Xmas cards, etc.

You are watching: Happy new year to you too in spanish

"Feliz Año Nuevo" is used yet for a an ext informal form you have the right to just speak "Feliz Año". "Feliz Año" is what you hear everywhere these days in Spain.

Esta última fórmula es más formal, y se parece un poco a la canción: "We wish you a Merry Christmas and also a Happy brand-new Year".

I would certainly say Happy brand-new Year! need to be interpreted as ¡Feliz Año Nuevo!

Próspero año nuevo have to be analyzed as Prosperous brand-new year.

It"s very common come say te deseo una feliz navidad y un próspero año nuevo (I great you a merry Christmas and a prosperous brand-new year.)
