Coil packs? The 4.3 doesn"t usage coil packs...The sending unit is threaded into the block come the ideal of the distributor (looking in ~ the engine from the front). If it to be unplugged I"d imagine pressure would read zero and also not pegged but I suppose it could be faulty. As soon as you rotate the truck off does the needle return to zero? If no you may want to examine your gauge cluster to view if the needle is grounding or maybe the swarm itself is bad.

Thanks guys. Ns will need to remove the dist lid to view if I deserve to see it. Ns just gained the tranny earlier in and also suspect perhaps I bumped the while putting the dipstick tube back in. It"s tight back there! I removed the cluster and moved the needle earlier where it must be, but as shortly as I turn the key on, it pegs again. Part gauges peg as soon as unplugged(open circuit), some peg as soon as shorted to ground. I will check it an ext this weekend. The automobile was down due to the fact that Thanksgiving, so that knows what happened. Thanks again, Later.
It"s to my expertise that if the ECM isn"t getting any signal that oil press from the oil press switch - which would certainly be the case, if the switch to be unplugged - it cuts out fuel. Is the motor actually running differently, or is the problem limited just to her dash gauge? Sounds more like a ground issue, or a problem with the gauge/cluster, itself rather than the sending unit, to me.Now would certainly be a groovy time to update to a mechanical oil push gauge. Simply locate the stock sender at the earlier by the distributor, screw in a T-fitting, and then object the stock switch and the line for her aftermarket gauge into that. Don"t forget come wrap the threads with Teflon tape, too.
