You are watching: Can you use ivory soap on dogs

I to be told by a vet that ivory dish soap as shampoo. Doesn"t dry the end their skin and also it"s cheap. What carry out you men think around this? Any kind of dish soap for the matter.

too harsh. I"d opt for a puppy or baby shampoo. Particularly if there is a reason for the shampooing.ACV is a pretty rinse and is straightforward on the skin/coat. I"d fairly use that 보다 the commercial commodities out there.

Use dog shampoo. Oatmeal base is a good one. Mane N Tail is okay but we don"t use it however maybe 2x a year. The pH of ours skin is various than the of dog skin.

I usage to use dishsoap because that bubblebath when I to be a kid...we never bathed our dogs, however. Palmolive was supposedly a great one to soften skin method back when.Dawn is recommended, too, however I wouldn"t use it on my dogs when other alternatives are available.

As a groomer I"ll chime in... The just time I ever before use dishsoap for bathing dogs/cats is as soon as you really have to strip the end the oils of a coat...like if a pet has actually been skunked, over there is a good "recipe" that baking soda, peroxide, and dishsoap that functions really well at getting rid that the stink (but it has actually its price though, will strip shade out that a black/dark dog and also is extremely drying and also needs come be followed by a remoisturizing therapy at the really least). The baking soda/peroxide division up the skunk enzymes and also the dish soap strips out the oily reisidue the the skunk spray. Occasionally pets that have skin/coat problems that leaving them extra oily or greasy gain a food soap bath very first and then acquire a soothing kind bath next. Other times friend spot usage it on cats with stud tail (no have to bathe the whole cat in it, simply the tail), dogs through long, hairy ears that are being treated with greasy ear meds because that an infection (cockers, springers) that leak all down the ear, and also once in awhile on dogs who have actually lots the "product" build up in your coats (although you can likewise use a vinegar rinse because that this too). I additionally use that on pets that are having actually a bad reaction come flea topicals and need lock removed. So it has a ar in grooming but not really for the typical pet and also bath. Its as well drying because it strips out the natural oils of the coat. Use a shampoo specific for dogs and what your dog needs at the moment...for example don"t usage a flea shampoo to be on the for sure side (actually don"t usage them at all, they reason all kinds of problems). Remember, no shampoo is walking to deal with a coat or skin problem, it starts indigenous the inside the end or to trust me, groomers would certainly be wealthy if we had actually a shampoo that magically cured the itchies, us can aid it yet not settle it.
